Smokers Teeth Whitening
Tobacco stains are tough to remove because they have occurred over years of smoking and the stains have settled deep into the enamel. Fortunately, these stains are not permanent and can be removed with professional in-office laser teeth whitening or a teeth whitening kit that has a peroxide percentage that is substantial so it can remove deep set stains such as the Power Whitening Kit. However, maintaining the brightness of a smoker’s smile will require some work, as the nicotine and tar in cigarettes can easily absorb into your teeth’s enamel, so you would have to develop a smoker’s teeth whitening maintenance routine. Here is what we suggest:
- Laser Teeth Whitening once a year or you can purchase our Power Whitening Kit (that gives results that are very comparable to laser teeth whitening)
- Touch up occasionally at home with your whitening kit or whitening pen for 20-30 min every few months or so
- Use whitening toothpaste that contains peroxide, like our Daily whitening Foam.
FUN FACT: most whitening toothpaste actually does not contain peroxide. Most whitening toothpaste contains a high level of abrasives that scratches the surface of your enamel (like sand paper) and that is how it “whitens”, the abrasives can only remove surface staining and will wear out your enamel over time, your enamel can never grow back. Our Daily whitening Foam is less abrasive and can remove deep set stains like tar and nicotine stains, that the average whitening toothpaste cant.
